As the Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition continues, the city also hosts other exhibitions. Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia displays works of Philip Guston, one of the most notable American painters, which focus on his interaction with five great poets.
The exhibition “Philip Guston and the Poets” shows how prominent 20th-century poets’ ideas and writings served as a catalyst in Guston’s mysterious paintings. Open until September 3, the exhibition draws parallels between basic humanistic themes in Guston’s works, and the narrative style of five great poets – D.H. Lawrence, W.B. Yeats, Wallace Stevens, Eugenio Montale, and T.S. Eliot.
