Punk Not Dead with Les Benjamins

Les Benjamins delves into the roots of Turkish punk for the Fall/Winter 2024 season, blending traditional and modern elements. The collection pays homage to the legend of Turkey’s 1970s punk scene, Tünay Akdeniz.

Named “Eastern Punk,” Les Benjamins integrates Turkish culture with the essence of punk, skillfully intertwining history and rebellion. Drawing inspiration from ornate patterns and Turkish heritage, the collection reflects the vibrant spirit that constitutes the raw material of punk.

In this new season, the collection transforms into a gender-fluid structure with bold cuts and asymmetric details. Bold silhouettes adorned with distressed finishes harmonize with a lively color palette. Trompe l’oeil details successfully showcase Turkish motifs in outerwear and create a leather-like appearance in printed denim. The collection combines influences from the aesthetics of punk album covers to Turkish calligraphy, offering a blend of various elements. Adorned with iconic punk features, the collection merges nostalgia with the energy of the underground music scene.

Les Benjamins Creative Director Bünyamin Aydin introduces the collection by stating, “When you reconnect with your roots and how music genres started in your homeland, only then can you continue to create new movements. I wanted to reintroduce Turkish cultural treasures to the youth.” The “Eastern Punk” collection offers an innovative perspective that blends tradition with avant-garde, saluting the roots.
