Slavia – Ekin Özbiçer

“I went to Prague to study photography in 2010. For about a year, in order to discover the area, the people, and my professional camera which I owned for the first time, I got on a train almost everyday and got off in neighborhoods I didn’t know. I walked around the streets of Prague. I went to many places from boxing studios to hospitals. This is how my first photography series happened to be Slavia.”

“Not only in pictures, people in a trans state in real life grab my attention. I pay attention to this in pictures I want to take.”

“I would like to photograph my family as my last photo.”

“Depending on the genre, every photo might have an inner value and it’s own beauty. I pay attention to creating an illusion where weirdness or simplicity is shown as extraordinary moments; in other words, lying for the moment.”
