Raise your hand if you’re a girl (or a boy) who was obsessed with The Little Mermaid… Better yet, raise your hand if you don’t, that would be easier. Lucky for us, the fairy tale get’s a surreal interpretation by none other than Yayoi Kusama.
“From the deepest spot in the ocean rises the palace of the sea king.” You know the rest. So does Kusama. The 87-year-old artist created a newer version of the tale, entitled “The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen & Yayoi Kusama: A Fairy Tale of Infinity and Love Forever” which features illustrations in pen and ink from her Love Forever series. With Kusama’s touch, the iconic story now includes lot’s of lines, polka dots, and a lot of abstractions we can’t define, but have become immediate fans of.
