Coperni SS25: A Fairytale Fusion of Fashion and Fantasy at Disneyland Paris

In a dazzling marriage of whimsy and modernity, Coperni’s Spring/Summer 2025 show enchanted the fashion world with an otherworldly spectacle set in the heart of Disneyland Paris. Marking the first-ever fashion show at the iconic park, Coperni’s co-founders, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, transformed Sleeping Beauty Castle into a backdrop for a fantastical journey blending disaffected youth, classic Disney icons, and contemporary edge. Even Kylie Jenner made an appearance, adding to the buzz that pulsed through the Magic Kingdom, complete with fireworks, lightning strikes, and techno beats.

The magic, however, wasn’t just in the setting. According to Vaillant, the show—two years in the making—started as a small collaboration with Disney. “We didn’t realize how huge this would become,” he admitted, reflecting on the grandeur that unfolded. And what a spectacle it was: their largest collection to date, woven into a three-part narrative that captured the evolution from childhood innocence to adult complexity, much like the themes of Disney’s timeless films.

The collection’s opening looks brimmed with nostalgic charm, with ruffled white floral jacquard jackets paired with bloomers, evoking a turn-of-the-century aesthetic and Disney’s gothic revival style. Organza butterflies fluttered delicately on scuba fabrics, representing the metamorphosis from childlike purity to a rebellious, streetwise edge.

Meyer and Vaillant didn’t shy away from playful nods to Disney merchandise, reinterpreting it through the lens of high fashion. T-shirts emblazoned with cheeky slogans like “Coperni princess” and a Lumiere graphic reading “I’ve been burned by you before” playfully juxtaposed innocence with knowing wit. Not to mention, the jeans and Swipe bag encrusted with salt crystals added a fairytale sparkle, turning even the most casual pieces into enchanted treasures.

As the collection darkened, the mood followed suit, with thunderclaps announcing the arrival of Disney’s iconic villains. Maleficent-inspired bustiers with horned hoods and tiara-shaped dresses echoed the dark side of fairytales, while one-legged ensembles pushed the theatricality further. With about ten percent of the collection designed in collaboration with Disney, these dark, daring looks brought beloved characters into the fashion fold in ways never seen before.

But it was the final act that truly dazzled—a seamless transition from shadow to light. Models emerged as “modern tech princesses,” adorned in silicone bodysuits embellished with flowers crafted from electrical cables. One model carried a 3D-printed version of Coperni’s iconic Swipe bag, produced in collaboration with a Boston-based company, which Vaillant noted would retail for around $500—the brand’s most affordable version yet.

As the fireworks faded and the last beats reverberated through the park, one thing was clear: Coperni’s SS25 show was more than just a fashion presentation. It was a reimagined fairytale that transcended time and space, offering a magical glimpse into the future of fashion while honoring its nostalgic past. As Vaillant put it, “the biggest project of our life” became an unforgettable closing moment to Fashion Month, leaving the fashion world spellbound.

Coperni’s Disneyland show wasn’t just an event—it was a dream brought to life, where fantasy met the future in a captivating fusion of fashion and storytelling.
