When calendars hit 1st of July, Paris Couture Week kicked off. For brands to be seen as a real couture house is a big deal. And there are some major rules. For this Couture Week something changed…

Dior

Maria Grazia Churi has become the new frontier in women empowerment. The designer took her inspiration from a book called Fashion and Psychoanalysis by Alison Bancroft. The set for the collection was takes from Dior Exhibition, Christian Dior: Couturier du Reve. The idea behind the collection is if it’s possible to stay true to the rules of The Fédération de la Haute Couture. The collection was different and progressive take on couture. It’s all about empowering and not restricting.

Maison Margiela

Margiela’s artisanal couture collection presented in a whitewashed hall. John Galliano took inspiration from obsession over technology by millennials. Models were wearing cameras on their ankles. And it had a major outcome. He explained his collection by two simple words, “nomadic glamour”. Layering is a major fact for Maison Margiela this collection. Schiarepelli

A full bright pink moment! The collection is full of shocking colors and shapes. The Runway Show took place in Palais Garnier. The collection was dedicated to Elsa Schiaparelli who left her mark in the fashion world in 1920s. Schiaparelli is coming back to life with the collections’ quirky but yet elegant looks.

Givenchy

Clare Waight Keller paid tribute to the late Hubert de Givenchy at the couture show in Paris. Keller showed her second couture collection since taking over the brand. The show held in a giant garden. Guests were given a book, showing all the references from the archives Keller got her inspiration. She got inspiration from SS56 and AW72 and many more. The whole collection was a journey inside the brand and how Clare Wight Keller re-created. At the end of the show all the people who worked behind the scenes of the collection came together on the runway and salute the guests.

Chanel

Grand Palais was more Parisian than ever. Chanel is one of the most important shows for the Paris Couture Week. A part of Grand Palais was remodeled for Chanel Couture Show this week. It turned into city streets with book stalls and a view of Seine. The collection was filled with the house’s signature tweed and lots of volume. Also, a history was made. Adut Akech Bior close the show as a Chanel bride and she became the second black model to close the Chanel show ever in the history.

Vetements

Vetements was not scheduled to Show in the couture week but yet the brand continues to challenge fashion rules. Demna Gvasalia hits couture week in Paris with a very personal collection. Demna Gvasalia presented his latest Vetements collection in Paris Couture Week. The collection was inspired by his past and what was it like to live in a troubled country. The collection was dedicated to family and violence. His collection is a move towards bad regimes. And each piece is a lesson for the youth and to give them a chance to talk.

Miu Miu

Miuccia Prada presented her new Miu Miu Collection in Hotel Regina in Paris. The runway featured whole list of elite celebrities. From Uma Thurman to Cloe Sewingway and Naomi Campbell to Adwoa Aboah. The resort 2019 collection is about sense of sexy. It was full of elegance to wild embellishments.
