Karl who took his biggest and the most important step of his life while he was moving to Paris when he was 14, opened the door of the fashion world here by winning his first prize in Secrétariat International de la Laine competetion for a coat sketch. He started his carrier in 65 years ago in Pierre Balmain, after he worked in 9 different brands as Jean Patou, Krizia, Charles Jourdan, Valentino, Fendi, Chloe, Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel. The most long-termed carrier period for him was the Creative Director chair of Chanel, which he had seat for 36 years. Karl who fitted limitless collections in to his 65 years carrier, made an overwhelming impression with his collaborations as well. He presented his multi-stranded working style by touching over 14 brands’ designs, like H&M, Faber Castell, Macy’s, Fossil Watches, Melissa Shoes, Shu Uemura, Les Ateliers Ruby, Coca Cola, Agustra Westland, Optic 2000, Louis Vuitton, Hogan, Sephora, Wolksvagen, etc. He won 6 important fashion prizes, which include “Couture Council Fashion Visionary Award” from FIT and “Outstanding Achievement Award” from British Fashion Awards.

He also lost approximately 90 lbs in 2001 just to be able to wear Hedi Slimane’s designs, and his eating habits became a legend which is called as “Karl Lagerfeld Diet”. He released a music CD 13 years ago with the name ”Les Musiques Que J’aime’”, which is comprised of his favorite songs. His photographs are exhibited in an exhibiton which is named Maison Européennedela Photographie’ 19 years ago, by his tendency to photography as much as designing. And maybe the most reliable source that you may appeal to understand the processes he faced and his life , “Lagerfeld Confidential” documentary is filmed 12 years ago. .

Karl who has made his black sunglasses, leather mitts and queued white hair as his signature, will always be one of the true living legendaries of fashion world with the vision he brought in and the limitless collections that he left behind.
