Miu Miu Literary Club – a cultural affair, an ode to the woman, to creativity, to poetry, to life…

The lifeblood of a vibrant society, expressed in the many ways we tell our stories, celebrate, remember the past, entertain ourselves, and imagine the future.

MIU MIU is excited to announce the launch of its first Literary Club, called Writing Life. This two-day event will delve into the works of Sibilla Aleramo and Alba De Céspede, while fostering engaging conversations and featuring live performances and entertainment.

The event showcases the brand’s dedication to modern ideas, taking inspiration from literary salons, artist collectives, and the exploration of women’s experiences from the past to the present through the written word.

The novels promoted during the Literary Club will be Aleramo’s A Woman, initially published in 1906, and De Céspedes’s Forbidden Notebook, published in 1952.

The two books, written half a century apart, powerfully demonstrate how writing can help women express their desires, thoughts, and ideologies, leading to a sense of independence and inspiring future generations.

The event will confidently promote an understanding of history and education, which are paramount to Miu Miu’s distinct identity, as well as the lives of contemporary women.

The event will feature a series of confidently presented panel discussions and performances, made possible by the esteemed writer and researcher Olga Campofreda, that confidently delve into women’s societal positionality, exploring themes such as motherhood, family, and career.

Contemporary writers will engage with literary greats of the past in conversations about creative and everyday life.

The goal is to elevate the future.

The panelists are Pulitzer Prize winner Jhumpa Lahiri, Italian writer and Strega Prize finalist Claudia Durastanti, critically acclaimed writer Sheila Heti, Italian writer and 2011 Campiello Opera Prima winner Viola Di Grado, Booker Prize longlisted writer Selby Wynn Schwartz, and Chinese-born British novelist, memoirist and filmmaker Xiaolu Guo. Among the moderators will be the writer and curator Lou Stoppard and the writer, broadcaster and journalist Zing Tsjeng.

April 17th and 18th, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the place to be is the Circolo Filologico di.
