Mugler Fall RTW’24 – Drama, bondage and vampires

Casey Cadwallader dives into Thierry Mugler’s archives to present a collection full of drama, excitement and sensuality.

There is something that distinguishes Mugler fashion shows from others, here movement and sound never ceases. Cadwallader’s Mugler vision keeps guests on their toes with sexiness, focused on the stage with cinematics and keeps them moving in their seats with energy, truly a theatrical performance.

We are in front of a huge black curtain, and coming towards us, transparent corsets flowing over the body and molded thick leather pieces begin to take their place on the stage.Suddenly, as the curtain falls, we see drones flying around the catwalk. The looks appear with dramatic entrances, accompanied by dashes of smoke.

Cadwaller has gone through the archives of the 80’s to put this collection together, no place for denim! Black and burgundy leather pieces pose a strong, sexy and daring looks in a vampy nonchalant style. Right after comes velvet dresses with a touch of color from Canadian artist Ambera Welmann’s surrealist art pieces. Mini dresses and trousers made with colorful printing techniques are absolutely eye-catching in the dark atmosphere of the collection.

Eclectic model selections ensured that the looks were completed with icons. A deep red leather coat and hand-drawn abs, Irina Shayk exudes courage and self-confidence with every step. We are looking at a fashion show that keeps Thierry Mugler’s spirit alive in every detail.
