Too Far Too Close: Early 2000 ‘s

The early 2000s: A decade too close to be nostalgia, far to make us feel almost old as we remember the internet and technology changing our daily life habits and ways of doing things easily and quickly! The fear of terrorism, which was replaced by the optimistic spirit of having just begun a new century, has fueled pessimistic policies and nationalist sentiments. Luckily the popular culture was still alive, and Paris Hilton hadn’t started to walk around with Kim Kardashian yet!

Because her best friend was Lindsay Lohan, and the Juicy Couture velvet tracksuits they wore were definitely imitated! Moreover, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston had just married. Those who find the 2000s dream couple boring can dream of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, who have joined the American Music Awards with inspiring styles that interpret the denim- on – denim trend. This was the era of celebrities: shooting a teen series on the Disney Channel, making hit songs, setting fashion trends with low-waisted jeans, and not dying of drugs. Their fans gave the marketing professionals a brand new (consumer) target audience: The Teenagers.  Long before the celebrity social media profiles in which they showcase their well-rehearsed controlled images, there were teen magazines. If you think of the huge celebrity posters attached to them like an Instagram post, it’s was free to create your own feed on the walls of your room!

Apple’s 2001 iPod and Dan Brown’s sensational bestseller Da Vinci Code could have completed your early 2000s college style with The Gant Varsity Jacket on your back. Firstly, worn by the members of the Harvard University baseball team, this iconic jacket draws attention with its charismatic design that has the embroidered initials of the team names on the front. You don’t have to decide which initials to wear on your jacket. You are always the winner in the Gant team’s style game!
