Did you have a song you used to sing constantly when you were little?
Bade Karakoç: ‘Domates Biber Patlıcan’ by Barış Manço.
Is there a music video you’d want to live in if it were possible?
Bade Karakoç: ‘California Gurls’ by Katy Perry.
A song and artist you absolutely want everyone to listen to?
Bade Karakoç: The Beatles. They hold a significant place in my life, so I believe their entire discography nourishes both spiritually and musically.
Where does inspiration come from the most for you?
Bade Karakoç: It emerges from the sense of empathy. Even if I haven’t experienced something firsthand, empathizing with someone else’s feelings and experiences is highly inspiring to me.
Is there someone you’d like to sing a song together with?
Bade Karakoç: Rosalia and Norah Jones.
Where do you gather motivation during the creative process?
Bade Karakoç: I draw it from emotions and society. When I feel a collective emotion and consciousness, being able to bring goodness to people becomes my greatest motivation. Despite living vastly different experiences in life—sorrows, happiness, pains—we all share the same emotions, and these emotions unite us. Hence, being able to touch someone else’s emotions and convey the message ‘I see you, and I understand you’ provides the biggest motivation.
What does Istanbul mean to you?
Bade Karakoç: A beautiful chaos.
Is there something you hate doing when you wake up in the morning?
Bade Karakoç: Right after waking up, I check up on Instagram and TikTok.
Could you describe the summer of 2023 in three words?
Bade Karakoç: Seclusion, renewal, and friendship.
Do you have a dream that you really want to come true, but at the same time, you’re afraid of it?
Bade Karakoç: Like any artist who creates, I also want to appeal to as many different cultures as possible and achieve a more global success. It doesn’t frighten me much, but there are times when I get a bit apprehensive about what it would be like to reach and connect with so many people.
