Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2025: A Fashion Journey Beyond Reality
Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2025 show began with a mysterious invitation: Composed of indistinguishable lumps of salt and sugar, it was part of the ‘Salt Looks Like Sugar’ project developed by artist Goshka Macuga and set the tone for the show. While Goshka Macuga’s concept emphasised Miu Miu’s desire to combine fashion and art, Miuccia Prada’s collection reflected the spirit of strong, bold and assertive women. This season, the famous designer presented a collection full of ultra-feminine, minimalist lines combined with sportswear, skilfully crafted layers and 1970s-inspired motifs. The first silhouette that appeared at the start of the show represented the elegance of minimalism with a simple skirt and a three-hole top, complemented by leggings and heels.
The explosion of colour that followed revealed Miuccia Prada’s dynamism. The collection was enlivened by a long trench coat in technical materials in shades of fuchsia, a flamboyant red knitted zip-up sweater, a double-breasted skirt in sky blue and a silky dress in butter yellow. The brand’s signature knitted jumpers were layered over spaghetti-strap tops, and the ultra-sheer poom poom shorts introduced at the autumn-winter 2023-2024 show were reworked from technical materials this season. In addition, pleated skirts, windbreakers and low-rise joggers, iconic pieces of office wear, found an important place in the collection.
Miu Miu also pushed the boundaries in men’s fashion this season. Miuccia Prada brought together sporty details and elegant touches with designs that brought together two opposite worlds where sportswear and tailoring intersect. In the collection that wandered between the comfort of sportswear and the sharp lines of tailoring, long technical parkas, zip-up polo shirts and revised flip-flops drew attention. Blazer jackets, suit trousers redesigned as shorts and trainers complemented with high socks added a modern touch to menswear.
A big surprise awaited the audience at the finale of the fashion show. Hilary Swank, Alexa Chung and Amelia Gray walked the catwalk, and the famous actor Willem Dafoe took the stage and closed the show with an elegant look. With this unforgettable finale, Miu Miu announced a new sense of fashion, not only for women, but also for men.
